November 21, 2004 - Game Development Blog Launched

After decades of work within all sectors of the game industry, SophSoft founder Gregg Seelhoff launched Gamecraft, a new game development blog (web log). Gamecraft is "all about the craft of making games, and in particular, computer games."

November 18, 2004 - Pretty Good MahJongg 2.0 Released

Goodsol Development has released Pretty Good MahJongg 2.0, a greatly improved new version of its hit game, featuring many different games played with mahjongg tiles, including tile matching, puzzle games, and original solitaire games. SophSoft did much of the design work and all of the programming for this update, as it previously did for the original version.

February 9, 2004 - SophSoft leader appointed ASP Chairman of the Board

Gregg Seelhoff was appointed by his fellow Directors in the Association of Shareware Professionals to serve as Chairman of the Board, a position he also holds at SophSoft, until his current term on the Board of Directors expires at the end of the year. This appointment follows the resignation of Jessica Dewell to accept the position of ASP President.

December 8, 2002 - SophSoft founder reelected to ASP Board

Gregg Seelhoff, SophSoft principal, was reelected to his seat on the ASP Board of Directors for a full two-year term. His new term will officially begin on January 1st, 2003, and extend through the end of 2004.

May 24, 2002 - SophSoft principal elected to ASP Board of Directors

SophSoft founder Gregg Seelhoff was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Shareware Professionals in a special mid-term election to fill the seat of a resigning Director. His term will extend through the end of the year.

December 30, 1999 - SophSoft joins the ASP

SophSoft, Incorporated has joined the Association of Shareware Professionals, a trade organization of independent software professionals who share marketing and support information. We look forward to working with other ASP members to help improve our software and services, as well as our marketing efforts, into the future.

History

The following list represents some of the major milestones in the history of our company:

  • January, 1982 - Gregg Seelhoff founds Sophisticated Software Systems for the express purpose of developing the best computer games available. While our focus and business methods have evolved over the years, we still remain true to our original goal of creating interactive entertainment software of unsurpassed quality.
  • March 1996 - Sophisticated Software Systems incorporates as SophSoft, Incorporated.
  • May 1998 - SophSoft creates a new development division, Digital Gamecraft, for the purposes of development and marketing of original game titles produced within the company.
  • September 1999 - SophSoft establishes its first game content web site, PlayGames.org, as a reference site for the research and promotion of traditional games, including classic and historical board, card, and table games.
  • December 1999 - SophSoft establishes another game content web site, KidGames.org, with a focus on providing a safe and controlled environment to help introduce children and their families to the joys and benefits of playing games.
